At Metro Credit Union, you're more than just a member — you're part of our community. Our commitment goes beyond banking. We’re dedicated to providing the products, services and tools you need, while actively supporting the community we all call home.
From education and financial literacy to family programs and community events, we proudly invest our time, energy, and resources into causes that matter. Because when our community thrives, we all do.
Below is a recap of the current and past activities and initiatives we've proudly sponsored or participated in.
Empowering the next generation is a key part of how we invest in our community. That’s why Metro is proud to launch a new financial literacy program for students at Elkhorn high schools. The program is designed to equip students with essential money management skills before graduation — setting them up for lifelong success.
As part of our ongoing commitment to celebrating local culture and community connection, Metro was proud to once again sponsor the LOVAM Jazz Festival on August 30 at Turner Park in Midtown Crossing. It was a wonderful evening of live jazz, art, and shared community spirit. It’s one of the many ways we come together to support what makes Omaha vibrant.
We are proud to have once again supported the Salvation Army's Back to School Backpack Program. Throughout the month of July, we received a truly generous amount of school supplies donated from members of our community. The bins at our 5 branches were overflowing and had to be emptied multiple times throughout the month. This program directly supports local children and families in need and is one more way we put community first.
Every summer, we take a week to celebrate the people who make Metro Credit Union what it is - our members. During the week of July 28, we gave away thousands of t-shirts and other summer essentials, like windshield visors and beach towels. We held daily drawings for gift cards to local attractions and Visa gift cards. Each branch also raffled off a Yeti cooler filled with even more summer goodies. Member Days is our way of showing appreciation for being part of this community, together.
Metro Credit Union was proud to join in the fun at this year’s Elkhorn Days Parade on Saturday, May 31. Since opening our branch at 204th and Cumberland Drive in 2021, we’ve loved being part of the Elkhorn community — and this event is one of our favorite ways to connect. Metro employees and their families walked the parade route, sharing smiles, handing out candy, and passing along some Metro-branded goodies to celebrate with neighbors. It’s just one of the many ways we show up for the communities we’re proud to serve.
We’re always excited to sponsor and participate in the Nebraska Science Festival — a celebration of curiosity, learning, and community connection. This annual event gives us a fun way to share how science and technology play a role in banking, and how smart saving habits can start early. Metro team members had a blast handing out our signature piggy banks and talking with kids (and adults!) about the power of financial knowledge. It’s hands-on education with a local twist — just how we like it.
At Metro Credit Union, we’re always looking for meaningful ways to support the people and places that make our community strong. While we may not be able to participate in every event or initiative, we welcome your suggestions and love hearing about opportunities to make a positive impact.
If you know of a local program, event, or cause that aligns with our values, we invite you to share it with us.
I've been with Metro for 23 years, starting when I worked for Nebraska Med. They've always worked with me through everything. I'm set for life with my credit union.Robert M.
I've been a member for over 20 years, starting when I worked at Clarkson Hospital. We've always found Metro's rates to be among the best in the area. When my kids were young, they loved the member appreciation events. Now my son and daughter-in-law are members too.Rachel W.
I first joined Metro in 1978 and was approved to buy my first home. In 1990, when the chance came to buy my neighbor's house, I was able to sell mine and get a new loan through Metro. As a single mom working at a grocery store, I never dreamed I'd qualify for a home loan. I'm still a member today, and I'm so grateful they trusted me. Member for 48 years.Regina H.
I joined Metro in 1986 while working as a chaplain at Midlands Hospital in Papillon. At the time, our paychecks were deposited directly at Metro, which meant no more picking up checks late or driving them to another bank. It was a game changer. In the years since, I've gotten car loans, set up online banking, and gotten help with Visa cards, all without hassle or extra costs. I've moved all over the country in the past 40 years, but I've always stayed with Metro.NJ D.
I've had a great experience that's allowed me to establish credit with my first auto loan. Thank you Metro for giving me this opportunity.Jessica A.
