Goodbye 2021

Metro Credit Union has had an exciting year with a variety of transitions. Due to our updated charter in early 2021, anyone who lives, works or worships, attends school, or regularly conducts business in any of eight counties can bank with Metro Credit Union. We also adopted a new two-part branch model with Full Service and Express Service branches and started online appointment scheduling to align services better.

Our branch locations grew with adding our Elkhorn location in August 2021 for a total of eight locations (five Full Service and three Express). We are pleased to be able to serve more people around our community.

In the month of February, we sponsored the Nebraska Black History Art Contest. March brought Metro’s Annual Meeting and we held only the business-meeting portion. Each year, three directors are elected to the Credit Union Board. No ballot election was held, as the number of candidates interested equaled the number of open positions.

Happy Winter Season

Silver Sponsor

Metro Credit Union was a Silver Sponsor of NE SciFest, a series of events around Nebraska in April that engage children and adults in science. Save-the-Date for it returning April 1-30, 2022. We also advocated for health and wellness with our sponsorship of the 5K Maverick Run and Walk at the Baxter Arena on April 24th.

Elkhorn Days

In June, we sponsored Elkhorn Days events, and staff participated in the Elkhorn Days parade. June was National Homeownership Month, and we welcomed two new mortgage loan originators: Zach Novak and Vanessa Patino. Caleb Kistner joined the mortgage team in October.

We supported the Salvation Army 7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Drive from July to August.  We are grateful for people who dropped off their backpacks filled with school supplies to help children go back to school with confidence.

Technology for Kids

In September, Metro Credit Union was the Technology Sponsor for Bids for Kids, an online auction and in-person event. This fundraiser raised over $60,000 for math and reading assistance programs in Elkhorn Public Schools. We also supported Elkhorn High School football and gave away t-shirts at various home games in September.

We also gave away Husker home football game tickets with our fall #TicketTuesday. Make sure to visit Metro Credit Union’s Facebook to take part in a variety of giveaways, including #WinItWednesday. We held Metro Days t-shirt giveaways Nov. 1-13th at our full-service branches to show appreciation to our members.
