History - Metro Credit Union

Metro Health Services Federal Credit Union began serving members in 1951 as Safeway Omaha Employees Federal Credit Union. When Safeway, Inc. decided to leave the Omaha area in 1982, the credit union sought opportunities to continue to serve its existing members. An opportunity presented itself when credit union board members were approached by the University of Nebraska Medical Center Federal Credit Union with a proposal to merge the two financial institutions. The subsequent merger created Metro Health Services Federal Credit Union.

Today, Metro Credit Union serves over 22,000 members and holds assets in excess of $140 million. Metro operates from five locations and offers ATM access from more than 60+ machines in Omaha, Bellevue, Council Bluffs, and Lincoln.
